Oregon is home to a vast, expanding juniper ecosystem. Western Juniper trees, Juniperus Occidentalis, pepper roughly 6.5 million acres of Oregon land, spreading across 17 counties; its greatest abundance and largest continuous stands are in Oregon, yet Western Juniper extends into northern California, south-central and southeastern Washington. It is likely the largest juniper forest on the planet. We’ve done some research about Oregon’s expanding juniper ecosystem; whether a nature lover, a gin aficionado, or both, you might find it interesting.
